1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Miramar Shooting

MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – Homicide detectives are investigating a multiple shooting in Miramar that left at least one person dead and another injured early Friday morning.

According to police, the shooting took place around 1:45 a.m. in the 8400 block of West Long Acre Drive.

Miramar Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Travante Simms.

"There was a confrontation and shots were fired.  Police responded before the first 911 call came in and when they got there they found the deceased male in the driveway.  At least one other person is being treated for non life threatening injuries," said Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues.

A witness said there were about a dozen people in a driveway of a home when a car pulled up. There was some sort of confrontation and there was gunfire.

Relatives on scene declined to comment on Simms or what happened.

Friday afternoon crime scene investigators were still on scene.  They could be seen gathering evidence and putting it into bags and containers.   Possible witnesses were seen going into the large incident command unit to talk to investigators.

Police say they questioned several people but there have been no arrests.

They are not identifying the second shooting victim.
