FBI Seeks 3rd Man In Credit Union Heist

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Two down and one to go in the FBI's efforts to round-up three men who they suspect robbed a South Miami credit union dressed in some unusual garb.

The robbery took place last Thursday at the Jetstream Federal Credit Union branch located on the second floor of Mercy Hospital.

On Friday, Garriet Demona Hicks, 38, and Alfred Walker, 23, were taken into custody.  A third suspect, Tavarius Rakeem Smith is on the loose.  Both Hicks and Walker are scheduled to make their initial appearances in federal court on Monday.

The FBI said during the robbery two of the men entered the credit union wearing hospital scrubs and demanded money from an employee. Three employees were kicked, sprayed with an aerosol irritant and threatened with a gun.

All were treated for injuries at the hospital.

The men got away with cash, possibly in a faded green, 4-door older model Buick with window tints. The FBI has not released how much money was taken.

If anyone has information on Smith's whereabouts they are asked to call the FBI at (305) 944-9101 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
