Hundreds Of Pets Hope For New Home At Saturday Adoption Event

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Find your new BFF (Best Furry Friend): Miami's Mega Pet Adoption Event is back.

Miami-Dade Animal Services, Humane Society of Greater Miami, and The Cat Network, together with rescue groups from all over South Florida, have once again united forces to find forever homes for hundreds of puppies and kitties.

Sponsored by the ASPCA, the event will take place on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Tropical Park, 7900 Bird Road, Miami.

All of the pets at this marathon adoption qualify for discounted adoption fees.

Last spring, a Mega Match-a-thon adoption event found homes for 288 animals. Another event in October united 438 pets with new families.

That's always the goal, according to Alex Muñoz, director of the Miami-Dade Animal Services Department.

"With hundreds of loving pets for adoption of all breeds, sizes, ages, colors and personalities, everyone should find the perfect dog or cat, or both."

There will be entertainment, food trucks, a kid's fun area and much more. Admission to the park is free and complimentary parking is available in the park.
