First "Facebook Phone" To Be Released April 12

(CNET) – Facebook just pulled the wraps off of a new and specially branded smartphone today. Crafted in partnership with mobile hardware manufacturer HTC, the HTC First will run the Facebook Home, a custom version of Google's Android software tied in tightly with the Facebook social networking service.

Power Android users though likely won't find much to tempt them in this Facebook, HTC co-creation. Specs for the device were not mentioned at Facebook's press event. That probably means the phone will be midrange and not packed to the gills with cutting edge technology. HTC fans who seek the most advanced smartphone the company can muster should look no further than the upcoming HTC One that boasts an impressive array of bells and whistles.

Expect the HTC First to cost $99.99 sold exclusively by AT&T.
