Expect Travel Delays As Obama Visits PortMiami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – President Barack Obama will be making his way into Miami Friday afternoon which means there will be a traffic nightmare once again in downtown Miami.

The President is scheduled to arrive around noon at Miami International Airport. Once he arrives, Presdent Obama will be making his way to PortMiami for a speech and that means the port will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from roughly 12:30 to 2:45 p.m.

In addition, traffic roadblocks can be expected in and around the downtown area as President Obama makes his way to the port for his speech.

It's not just drivers that will be affected by the president's visit. According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, Miami-Dade Transit's Metrorail and Metromover service will not be running for 25-30 minutes. Also, Metrorail riders who plan to use the Orange Line to go to MIA are advised to expect delays.

President Obama is expected to leave shortly after his speech which means traffic in and around Miami should be back to normal in time for the Friday evening rush hour.
