‘Canes Fans Celebrate Big Win

MIAMI (CBS4) – University of Miami Hurricane fans celebrated a big win by the ‘Canes which moved them into the Sweet 16.

Students gathered at the popular campus hangout known as “The Rat” to watch Miami play Illinois Sunday night.

Before the game some students were nervous but most were confident in their team.

“It’s been exciting. We’ve never been this good. I’ve been watching my entire life we’ve never been this good,” said Alex Peschel.

The game was full of tense moments when the room went silent, but students cheered every point.

They say the team’s success has really boosted school spirit.

“It’s been wonderful there’s a lot of good vibes going around campus lately. Everyone’s real excited,” said Ernie Calderia.

“It’s high energy. It’s fun. It’s brought a good amount of morale to the school,” said Edyna Garcia said, adding, “I think we needed something like this.”

At the end of the night happy Hurricanes fans say they plan to cheer the Canes on all the way to the championship.
