Miami-Dade, Broward Rank Among State's Healthiest Counties

SOUTH FLORIDA (CBSMiami) – South Florida is home to some of Florida's healthiest residents, according to a national study.

The state's two largest counties–Miami-Dade and Broward–placed in the top 10 for healthiest counties in Florida in the County Health Rankings and Roadmaps study, cited in the South Florida Business Journal.

The analysis released on Wednesday ranks Miami-Dade as the sixth healthiest county in the state followed by Broward which placed ninth on the list of 67 Florida counties.

Palm Beach County came in at No. 14 and Monroe County at No. 20.

The study was conducted by the Robert Wood Johns Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

St. Johns County was ranked the healthiest in the state followed by Martin and Collier counties. The three unhealthiest counties are Washington, No. 65; Putnam, No. 66 and Union No. 67.

The analysis takes into consideration two broad categories: "health outcomes," which includes mortality and morbidity and "health factors."
