Ft. Lauderdale Lifeguard Facing Dozens Of Child Porn Charges

DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – A Ft. Lauderdale lifeguard was in bond court on Wednesday facing 40 counts of possession of child pornography.

Investigators began looking into the case February 15th after noticing a spike in of internet traffic on a peer-to-peer file sharing network.

Nick Maniscalso, 47, was registered under the IP address of a person who offered to share child pornography videos and pictures to another user, according to the arrest affidavit.

When investigators looked up the IP address they found 34 files of child pornography online between the dates of January 1 and March 2, according to the report.

During the investigation, law enforcement worked with Comcast Cable and determined that Maniscalso was the registered user of that account and subsequently found the computer with the files still on it.

Police went to Maniscalso's Deerfield Beach apartment Tuesday and he admitted to having multiple computers and to downloading files via the Limewire network.

Forensic computer experts quickly found 30 video files of girls age 13 and under performing various sexual acts on one of the computers and an additional 10 more child porn files on a separate computer.

Maniscalso was then arrested and taken to Broward Sherrif's Office main jail where he remained Wednesday evening.
