BOSTON (CBSMiami) – Sometimes in sports, a player will run his mouth when he shouldn’t and then has his words shoved right down his throat. That’s just what happened to Boston Celtics guard Jason Terry Monday night against the Miami Heat.

Terry had spouted off over the weekend that he wasn’t impressed with the Heat’s now 23-game winning streak. The Heat has no love lost for the Boston Celtics, but Terry’s mouth is much better than his game and especially his defense.

During the Heat’s victory over the Celtics Monday night, Terry found himself in a position where many other players have been before him, all alone with LeBron James on a breakaway.

Common sense would say to just get out of the way because there’s no real way outside of an intentional foul to stop LeBron on a breakaway. But, Terry eschewed common sense and decided to try to defend the basket against LeBron.

The resulting play is a microcosm of both how well the Heat have been playing this season and where Jason Terry’s career is right now. Check out the play below.
