A Howlin' Good Time At Woofstock Music Fair

FLORIDA KEYS (CBSMiami/ Florida Keys News Bureau) – Thousands of four-legged friends and pet-lovers gathered in the Keys this weekend to enjoy music and support a good cause.

Nearly 1,000 dogs and an estimated 6,000 people attended the Woofstock Music Fair on Saturday at the Islamorada's Founders Park.

The event, sponsored by Key Largo's MarrVelous Pet Rescues & Adoptions, was created to raise pet population awareness and facilitate stable dog adoptions. The adoptions were provided by several South Florida and Florida Keys rescue groups.

"Woofstock is a great event here in the Keys," executive director of MarrVelous Pet Rescues and co-coordinator of Woofstock, Patricia Hann told the Florida Keys News Bureau. "It's open to the public, people can come and visit, we have a ton of pet-friendly hotels in the area where they can come stay, bring their dogs to Woofstock, make a weekend out of it."

Singers and musical groups filled the park up with music while attendees were walked around and view artistic doggie stuffs and pet products at vendor booths. People and their pets were also dazzled by canines that showed off their dock-jumping skills into a swimming pool.

Dozens of pooches were said to have "put their best paw forward" during the Rescue Me Mutt Strut and were able to find a home.
