Fins Release LB Karlos Dansby

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins have solved their glut of linebackers by cutting middle linebacker Karlos Dansby, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.

Dansby, 31, was carrying the highest salary cap number of any player currently on the Fins' roster. Plus, with the team signing middle linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, Dansby was expendable just three years after coming to Miami as the savior of the defense.

Dansby had 134 total tackles and one quarterback sack last year with the Dolphins. His salary cap number for this season of $8.575 million and more than $11 million next season.

By releasing Dansby, the Fins save roughly $6 million in cash and nearly $4 million in salary cap space. However, Dansby will cost $4.65 million in dead money against the cap.
