Carlos Migoya Donates $160K Bonus To Jackson Memorial Foundation

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Carlos Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson Health System, has put his money where his mouth is and made good on a promise to donate any bonus that he earned to Jackson Memorial Foundation.

That bonus was $160,000 which has been earmarked to support renovations of Jackson Women's Hospital.

The project has a fundraising goal of $20 million.

"I see the great potential that Jackson Women's Hospital has in becoming the first choice for South Florida physicians and patients, and that's why I'm proud of making this donation," said Migoya, whose younger son was born at Jackson 35 years ago and thrived despite weighing just over a pound and being in severe medical danger. "Jackson does so much for this community, and now it's time we all get involved to ensure that this institution grows in its mission to provide high-quality health care – where miracles are made daily."

Jackson Women's Hospital is one of the largest birthing centers in the country and has been the starting point for generations of Miami-Dade families.

Renovations will include converting labor and delivery rooms into private suites to provide more space for family visits, as well as modernizing other key areas. The project is one key component of Jackson's strategy to compete with private hospitals and better reflect the community's pride in its public healthcare system.
