Hugo Chavez's Health Takes Turn For The Worse

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's health has taken a turn for the worse.

The Venezuelan government has said a new severe respiratory infection has made Chavez's breathing problems even worse. Chavez's condition was described as 'very delicate' according to a statement read by a government official at the Caracas Hospital where Chavez is being treated.

Chavez, 58, returned to his home country last month after undergoing cancer surgery in Cuba. He has not been seen in public since the surgery.

The 58-year-old president has been undergoing cancer treatment in Cuba on-and-off since June 2011. He has had tumors removed from his pelvic region, and has also undergone prior rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
