FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Victoria Park man was shot and killed by police after he allegedly charged them with a knife.
Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday police were sent to the home at 300 NE 17th Avenue after getting a call that a man inside the residence was threatening to kill himself.
On their way to the house, officers were told that threats were part of an ‘ongoing domestic disturbance’ and that the man, identified as 43-year Jeffrey Lowry, had armed himself with a knife.
When police arrived to the residence, a knife wielding Lowry allegedly came out of the front door.
Witnesses told investigators the officers told Lowry several times to drop the knife but he refused.
When Lowry reportedly advanced on the officers, they shot him. He was taken to Broward General Medical Center where he died.
