Model, Actress Gabriela Dias Releases Colorful Swimsuit Line

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- She is an international supermodel, an actress both in movies and on TV and now she's also created her own swimwear line. Gabriela Dias is a woman of many talents who showed off some of those talents at The James Royal Palm Hotel on South Beach.

Her swimwear line is so hot, one suit was chosen for the coveted pages of February's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.

Brazilian-born Gabriela Dias is a young woman on a mission:

"Your swimwear got into Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition?" asked CBS4's Lisa Petrillo.

"Yes, the 50th edition anniversary," replied Dias. "I made a bunch of special pieces for them, so every time they had some theme we had to create something just for them, exclusive, so some of the pieces got shot and we are going to be featured and I could not be more excited. When I heard the news I had tears in my eyes."

Her Brazilian background inspires Gabriela's designs.

Everything is handmade, hand sewn, and teeny weenie.

"It's sexy," she explained. "When I decided my styles, I tried to make it for one type of body. So, it works for all type of women. We should feel comfortable with what we're wearing, so I think small is okay."

Gabriela moved to the US at age 16, without her family. She's been working ever since.

Last month, she was in Maxim Magazine wearing her designs.. She was also at The Sundance Film Festival.

"One of the movies I did is featuring Jessica Biel and this amazing cast went to Sundance, and it was amazing," she said.

"So you have a film career, a design career, and a TV career, how are you juggling it all?" asked Petrillo.

"I'm working a lot and you know I walk around saying things and memorizing things and I look crazy when I'm driving but I love it. I came from Brazil and I had to work really hard to be where I am at now and I'm just happy that it's working out."

Gabriela's swimwear line can be found at specialty stores and at www.gabrieladias.com.
