Investigation Underway Into Suspicious SW Dade House Fire
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Arson investigators have been called in to determine the cause of a fire in a vacant home in Southwest Miami-Dade Wednesday night.
When firefighters forced their way into the home near SW 103rd Avenue and 55th Street, they found every room was engulfed in flames.
While they don't know what caused the fire, those who live around it were grateful that firefighters were able to put it out quickly.
"All the fire's coming this way here, it don't go to the other side. All the fire is like 'whew', the wind put all the fire this way here," said Jose Gonzalez. "I told the fire department hurry up, hurry up it's on the way. I'm nervous because I've got this boat here, my family's here."
Firefighters managed to contain the flames to the home.
Neighbors said the man who lived in the home died more than two months ago and no one has lived there since. They added that FPL cut power to the residence about three weeks ago.
