MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Property owners in Miami-Dade who planned to file for a property tax exemption have until the end of the business day Friday to submit their application.

Residents are encouraged to contact the Miami-Dade County Office of the Property Appraiser to determine if they are currently receiving or are eligible for exemption benefits, including two new exemptions that were approved by voters in November.

The new exemptions reduce the property tax burden for low-income senior citizens who have lived in their home for over 25 years and for spouses of first responders who died in the line of duty.

Homeowners can apply for homestead and other tax cuts at the Property Appraiser’s offices or file online at www.miamidade.gov/pa/.
