Hunt Continues For Man Who Tried To Run Down Hialeah Cop

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – Hialeah police are asking for the public's help in finding a man they said tried to run over one of their officers last Friday night.

It happened when an officer tried to pull over Oscar Perez near E 8th Avenue and 25th Street because he was reportedly driving a stolen 2000 Chrysler mini-van. Perez sped off nearly missing the officer.

After a short chase, which involved Hialeah officers shooting at the van, Perez crashed into two vehicles in the intersection of E 6th Avenue and 27th Street. He then took off on foot but left a loaded gun behind.

Police said Perez has a history of arrests which include drug charges, prostitution, lewd and lascivious acts with a child and burglary. They add that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on Perez's whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
