Jury Deliberations Underway In Miami Terror Support Trial

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – After listening to nearly two months of testimony, it's now up to federal jury in Miami to decide the fate of a South Florida Muslim cleric accused of funneling money to the Pakistani Taliban terrorist group.

Jury deliberations got underway Tuesday in the trial of 77-year-old Hafiz Khan, an imam at a Miami mosque who reportedly supported terrorism by providing about $50,000 to the Pakistani Taliban.

Khan testified he opposes the Taliban and said the money went to family, to support his Pakistan religious school and for business purposes.

The prosecution's case rests on hundreds of FBI recordings of conversations in which Khan praises violent Taliban attacks and disdain for Pakistan's government.

If convicted Khan faces 15 years in prison on each of four counts.
