MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Residents of a Miami home were not hurt when a car crashed through one of its walls Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 11 a.m. on NW 12th Avenue at 40th Street.

Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll said the woman behind the wheel was heading north on 12th Avenue when she lost control, veered off the road and slammed into the home. The woman and her young child were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

A structural engineer has been requested to determine if the house is safe to stay in or if the residents will have to find temporary lodging elsewhere.
