Some GOP Lawmakers Skeptical Of Gov. Scott's Job Plan

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) – Some Republican lawmakers have questioned Gov. Rick Scott's jobs package.

Scott wants to more than double the amount of tax dollars set aside to lure new companies or help existing ones. The governor wants to boost the amount from $111 million to $278 million.

During a Tuesday meeting, some lawmakers questioned the state's jobs development agency on whether money has wound up going to companies that don't need the help.

Meanwhile, a top GOP legislator in the Florida Senate is pushing a bill that would increase oversight of business incentives. Sen. Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, also said the legislation could clamp down on some of the state tax credits now being handed out to businesses.
