MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Two people, including a Miami-Dade police officer, were hospitalized Tuesday after the officer and a second vehicle were involved in a severe crash.

It happened in the City of Miami at NW 2nd Avenue and 68th Street.

According to Miami-Dade Police officials, the officer was attempting to stop a suspect in a home invasion robbery but during the pursuit, the officer crashed into a civilian vehicle.

The officer and the driver of the second car were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time.

The suspected home invasion robber got away.
