Chapman Ducote: Scott Disick's New Pal In Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It appears there's a "bromance" brewing on the hit reality show "Kourtney and Kim Take Miami."

Scott Disick, Kourtney's significant other, appears to be "man crushing" on the shows newest cast member, a Miami mogul named Chapman Ducote.

Ducote is a millionaire banker and race car driver who is becoming fast friends with Dissick.

"The first time we met was literally on camera. We had never met prior, so it was really genuine. And so we hit it off, he's a bit younger than me, he's a nice guy, smart, and we had a great time," Ducote explained to CBS4's Lisa Petrillo.

Chapman, 36, is a native from New Orleans who moved to Miami 20 years ago after studying business at UM. These days he's President and CEO of Merchant Services LLC, a credit card processing company based in Miami. He's also an accomplished race car driver who owns his own racing team as well.

"It's really two different businesses entirely," explained Chapman.

"Racing is a business where you have sponsors, you have endorsements, companies that I endorse, and that is the business that I have of being a professional athlete. The credit card business is the part of being a banker."

Ducote, who's a newlywed, bought a beautiful Venetian Island home 2 years ago and completely renovated it. Last year when the producers of "Kourtney and Kim Take Miami" needed office space for filming, they ended up at his.

"When they were touring the space they were looking around, they were looking at the photographs, my racing trophies and I have pictures of my racing suit, framed and they were like who is Chapman I want to meet this guy," he said.

So they asked the slickly dressed and perfectly coifed Miami mogul to be on the show, knowing full well that Scott Disick would make a friend.

"I think that, and maybe the producer had this thought for me to be more of a mentor for him. I'm a little bit older. I'm married. I was setting an example I guess you could say. Whether he wants to follow it or not, I don't know," said Chapman. "I was trying to lay the groundwork for him."

"And Scott? asked Petrillo, "What does he do?"

"Scott is on television, that's what he does," laughed Chapman.

What Chapman thought would be just a few episodes turned into 3 months of constant cameras. He quickly became the nemesis for Kourtney who didn't want her guy to get behind the wheel of a race car.

"I do a lot of dangerous stuff, to her defense, I would have cause for concern too if I was a spouse and someone was going to do something dangerous. My wife is just used to it. She knew what she signed up for," he said.

Chapman did have an instant connection with Kim Kardashian.

"I actually like Kim a lot, because she's like me, she's a hard worker, she's got a lot of irons in the fire, and she does a lot and that I respect a lot because I know what it takes to have multiple deals going at one time."

Just like racing and banking, Chapman said although TV and the perks that come with it, is fun, it's really all just about business.

"I did it, the fame is fun and it's nice and it's flattering, but at the end of the day I have to run a business, I have figure out the best way to grow the business and this is a good way."
