KENDALL (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade police arrested Jesus Maqueira Friday night for the murder of his wife, Raquel Calderin.

According to the police affidavit, when questioned by police, Maqueira said “Look, I killed her so take me to jail.” He then laughed at investigators but refused to provide details.

Milaiys Rodriguez is a friend of Calderin’s and knows the family well.

“It’s unfortunate. I spent a lot of time with the family. It really is unfortunate,” Rodriguez said.

Maqueira and Calderin were married for more than 20 years and have a history of domestic abuse and stalking. Police believe Maqueira even placed a GPS tracking device on his wife’s car.

According to the affidavit, Calderin filed for divorce and on Spetember 4th, Maqueira showed up to Calderin’s job at Gloria Floyd Elementary School to try to get her back.

Calderin left the school early upset by the fight and she has not been seen since.

If you have any information on the case, call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
