Police Shoot Homeless Man On Roof At FAU

BOCA RATON (CBSMiami) – There were tense moments on the Florida Atlantic University campus in Boca Raton Friday morning.

A homeless man was on the roof of building three at the research department on the campus when two FAU Police responded to the scene and went on the roof.

According to FAU Police, the homeless man produced a knife and began moving towards the officers.

At that point, the officers opened fire on the man, hitting him an unknown number of times, according to CBS affiliate WPEC.

The victim was taken to Delray Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to FAU Police.

The campus was not placed on lockdown as a result of the shooting, which happened in a corporate research section away from where most classes are held.

FAU Police wouldn’t say how the man got on the roof of the building.
