Bond Denied For Man Involved In Shooting Which Injured Teen

W MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – A man suspected in a West Miami-Dade shooting in which his daughter was injured will be staying put behind bars.

Bond has been denied for 35-year-old Yannie Lambert Vargas who is charged with attempted first degree murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, aggravated child abuse and child abuse.

The shooting happened January 30th at 181 NW 76th Avenue. According to his arrest affidavit, Lambert Vargas threatened to kill another man and his whole family as he drove to the man's home. The report said Lambert Vargas and the second man are related by marriage and at one time had lived together. In the car with Lambert Vargas was his 16-year old daughter who was sitting in the passenger seat.

When Lambert Vargas arrived, the man he had threatened was waiting outside the residence for him. Lambert Vargas pulled a gun and fired at the man who fired back in self-defense.

Lambert Vargas' daughter was hit in the arm. She jumped out of the car and ran off to avoid getting hit by anymore gunfire. Lambert Vargas then fled the scene, according to the report.

Police said the two teens who were inside the home at the time of the shooting were not hurt.
