Record Ratings For Super Bowl XLVII

NEW ORLEANS (CBSMiami) – The Baltimore Ravens and Joe Flacco were the big winners on the field for Super Bowl XLVII, but CBS may have been the biggest winner of the night.

Super Bowl XLVII scored an overnight rating of 48.1/71 which would make the game the highest rated Super Bowl in metered television market history. The previous record was held by Super Bowl XLV in 2011.

According to Deadline.com, the game's ratings peaked in the last half-hour of the game when the ratings hit a 52.9/75 as the 49ers mounted a furious comeback after the lights went out in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome during the third quarter.

The Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in one of the longest Super Bowls in history due to the third quarter blackout.

CBS is the parent company of CBS4/CBSMiami.com.

Update: 4:30 p.m. - Updated numbers from Nielsen lowered the rating to 46.3 for an average of 108.4 million viewers. That would place the Super Bowl as the third most watched in history.
