DAVIE (CBSMiami) – Two teens were hospitalized after an accident involving an off-duty Florida Highway Patrol officer in Davie.

Last Friday 16-year old Robert Anton, 15-year old Sean Narup and 14-year old Olivia Booher were pushing an EZ-GO golf cart along SW 26th Street.  Riding inside were 14-year old Rebecca Anton and and 13-year old Brooke Bruyning, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.

Around 9:30 p.m. James Robinson, 41, was driving east on the road in his department issued 2006 Crown Victoria when he struck the cart.

The FHP said there were no street lights on the road and by the time Robinson saw them he was unable to stop in time.

On impact, the cart shot across the street and slammed into a guardrail, according to the FHP incident

The two teen girls in the cart were taken to Broward Health Medical Center in serious condition.

CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald contributed to this report.
