LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) – A woman was shot to death at a Lauderhill condo complex in what police suspect was a domestic dispute.

The shooting happened Monday night around 9 p.m. at the Stonebridge Gardens Condominiums at 2846 NW 55th Avenue.

Family members identified the woman who died as 38-year old Adrienne Simmons.

Lauderhill police said the woman had been shot at least once, her body was found at the bottom of a stairwell.

Simmons was in Lauderhill visiting her niece, according to family members.

“At this point it’s possibly domestic related. We don’t know for certain if that’s the case. We’re not sure what possible relationship there may between the suspect, but we do believe the suspect and the victim know each other,” said Lauderhill police spokesman Major Rick Rocco.

Family members told CBS4 that they believe Simmons’ killer may have been an ex-boyfriend who came down from Tampa to confront her.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
