Bullet Casings Litter Road Where Teen Shot In NW Miami-Dade

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – A South Florida teenager remains hospitalized after being shot outside his Northwest Miami-Dade home Monday morning.

Miami-Dade police were called about the shooting outside a home on NW 17th Court and 73rd Street around 7:30 a.m.

The teen was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

His condition is unknown but his mother is by his side.

Outside the home, investigators put down at least 49 plastic, yellow markers for shell casings and other evidence indicating dozens of shots were fired.

However, police could not say whether all of the shots were fired at the teen or whether there was a shoot-out.

Police want to know if the 17 year-old was targeted. They do not have a motive or a description of the shooter or shooters.

If you have information that would help police, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
