Police: Woman Shot In Face After Complying With Purse Thief
MIAMI (CBS4) - A woman was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the face after being robbed of her purse outside a Miami restaurant Thursday afternoon.
The horrifying incident happened in front of the woman's two young children.
Miami Police say the woman, identified by family as Evelyn Matamoro, left a restaurant near the intersection of Northwest 7th Avenue and Northwest 53rd Street at around 5:30 p.m. when a man with a gun approached her and told her to give him her purse.
Matamoro, in fear for her life, handed over her belongings but the thief fired anyway, hitting her in the face.
Police believe the gunman then fled the scene in a grey Dodge Charger
Matamoro was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
