MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Leisure City man was taken into custody after police uncovered a fully functional hydroponics marijuana growing operation in his home.

The discovery was made when Miami-Dade police were conducting a narcotics investigation in the area. When police tried to talk with the owner of a home in the 2900 block of Indiana road, the man went back inside the residence, closed the door and tried to escape out the back.

A Special Response team was called in as narcotics detectives got a warrant to search the home.

The man eventually surrendered to police. Inside the home, detectives found the hydroponics lab and approximately 21 pounds of marijuana which had an estimated street value of $94,000.
