MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A New Jersey woman who reportedly caused a bomb scare at Miami International Airport after she missed a flight has been charged.
It happened last Thursday when Oksana Gerzon, 41, arrived late at the airport to board her Delta flight.
When the gate agents told her she would have to book a later flight, she reportedly got very angry and demanded that her luggage be pulled off the plane. When she was told by the gate agents that they couldn’t do that and it would be at the airport waiting for her when she arrived on a later flight, Gerzon then told them “What if there is a bomb in bag,” according to her arrest affidavit.
When they asked her to take back that statement, she allegedly refused and then asked how they could allow the plane to take off without knowing if she had a bomb in her bag or not.
The section of Terminal H was evacuated and the flight was delayed for nearly half an hour while her claim was checked out. No bomb was found.
Because of the delay, Miami-Dade Aviation said Delta Airlines would be fined $2,862.00.
During questioning by police Gerzon reportedly admitted to making the statements to the gate agents.
She was arrested and charged with making a false bomb report and criminal mischief.
