6 Year Old Boy Killed In Miramar Hit & Run

MIRAMAR (CBS4) - Miramar Police are looking for a driver of a white sedan who hit and killed a 6 year old boy before fleeing the scene.

Miramar Police spokesperson Tania Rues said the boy and his uncle, who was carrying a baby in his arms, were crossing the street in the area of the 2600 block of Miramar Parkway Wednesday night when the boy was hit by the car.

Police say the boy was on the hood of the car for as it sped down the street before he fell to the ground and was run over.

"This person continued to move while the child was on the hood of the vehicle. The child falls off the vehicle, and they ran the child over...so obviously it's a horrific scene," said Rues.

The boy, who has not been identified, was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The uncle and baby were not hurt.

Police believe the white sedan, possibly a newer model Dodge Charger, has front windshield damage. It was last seen heading south on State Road 7/U.S. 441.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
