BSO: Three In Custody After Boy, 5, Injured In Shooting

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – BSO investigators took three people into custody following a shooting incident in which a five-year-old boy was hurt.

"Around 11 o'clock this morning a woman went into the hospital with her five-year-old boy who had been injured because of a shooting," said Dani Moschella with BSO.

"We don't know if the child was actually shot. Doctors will have to tell us that after they do more medical tests," said Moschella.

The unidentified child is in stable condition at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood.

Outside the hospital in a parking lot, BSO crime scene technicians spent much of the afternoon snapping pictures of a Nissan Altima. The mother brought the child to the hospital in the vehicle.

The shooting happened inside a condo on County Line Road in Pembroke Park. Yellow crime-scene tape surrounded the ground floor unit where the child lives with his single mother.

"If you have a gun and a child, how does an accident with a gun happen?" wondered Shai Gould, who manages the property.

Gould said the incident has left everyone stunned.

"When I first got here, I was told it was a five-month-old and I fell apart—that was a baby.  Since then, I was told it's a five-year-old boy.  It's just so horrible. Especially given the times and everything that has gone on, it's very upsetting," said Gould.

While investigators continue to piece together what happen, BSO questioned several adults including the mother. BSO said that all are cooperating in the investigation.
