Dolphins New Logo Leaked?

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins may be ready to drop a new logo on its fans as the team ends a promising 2012 campaign and begins preparing for the 2013 season.

When Nike took over as the NFL's uniform designer, the Dolphins said changes could be coming to the logo. The team unveiled the new Nike uniforms earlier this season, but the logo was at the time unchanged.

That may have changed, according to the Twitter feed for the website uni-watch.com. The site posted what is said is a purported new Dolphins logo that is making the rounds on the Internet. The new logo ditches the helmeted Dolphin for a more streamlined Dolphin body still surrounded by the orange sun.

The Miami New Times pointed out the logo resembles the old Dolphin Stadium logo the team used to use before going through several name changes to the stadium. The purported logo will no longer have a face and instead have a streamlined look to the entire body.

The Fins have never before used a logo that didn't have a Dolphin with a face and in the upright position with a helmet on. But that could be changing if the new logo is accurate.

Dolphins beat reporter Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post tweeted that he's heard the new logo is indeed legit, but that has not been confirmed by anyone on in the Dolphins organization.
