Opa-Locka Store Burglary Reportedly Caught On Camera

MIAMI (CBS4) - An Opa-locka liquor store owner is desperate to find an employee who allegedly stole $25,000 and left town. Months after the crime, he's appealed to the public for help.

It happened in early August at Bobby's Liquors at 2040 Opa-locka Blvd.

Surveillance cameras show a woman behind the counter grab a plastic bag and sit down in front of the store safe. The woman then opened the safe and removed cash. She put it the bag, grabbed a jacket and walked out with the jacket on top of the bag.

Inside that bag, according to store owner Randy Mallen, was a week's worth of earnings. The woman was store manager at the time.

"She was a trusted employee for five years, never did anything wrong that I know about, (she was the) last person I thought would've done it," said Mallen.

Mallen said he filed a police report, but months later he's taking matters into his own hands. He's put up fliers and put the surveillance video on YouTube.

He hopes someone spots her and calls police or Crime Stoppers.

"I'd like to see her arrested and pay for what she did," he said, adding, "People shouldn't be able to do that and get away with it."
