Bill McBride Dead At 67

TAMPA (CBSMiami) – The Democrat who campaigned against Republican Jeb Bush in 2002 for the Governor's Office has passed away.

Bill McBride, 67, died Saturday, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

"Bill McBride was larger than life. He was one of the great business, legal and political leaders of Florida, and he is a friend that many of us will miss," said U.S. Senator Bill Nelson in a statement.

McBride's wife, Alex Sink said her husband had a heart attack Saturday evening while in Mount Airy, N.C., with family.

Sink faced off and lost to Republican nominee Rick Scott in the 2010 gubernatorial election.
