Warm Now But Temperatures About To Tumble

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Christmas may be just around the corner but South Florida is still sweating it out Thursday with warm temperatures and lots of sun but that's all about to change. The Midwest blizzard is about to send a strong cold front across the state.

The cold air will sweep into South Florida by dawn on Friday.

CBS4 Chief Meteorologist David Bernard says temperatures will hold steady in the 60s on Friday and fall to the 50s by late in the day. Saturday morning most of the area will drop into the 40s with a chilly North wind.

There will be lots of sunshine for the weekend but even with the sun, high temperatures likely won't make it out of the 60s on Saturday.

Another cold morning is likely on Sunday with temperatures back into the 40s to around 50 at the coast.

For Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Bernard says sunny weather will continue with a slow warming trend back into the upper 70s.
