Man Slashes Pet Python 19 Times, Leaves Knife In It

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A 38-year-old man out of jail pending a trial for robbing and beating an elderly person is now accused of stabbing a pet ball python 19 times, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Roy Strickland was charged with causing cruel death, pain and suffering to an animal, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

The attack took place in a home along the 400 block of Southwest Second Street, according to an arrest report. The python had been enclosed in its glass cage when Strickland allegedly reached in and slashed the animal 19 times, the arrest report continued.
