FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Hollywood teen was taken into custody and charged with murder after a man was found dead inside an apartment.
Wednesday around 8:15 p.m. police were called to an apartment building in the 6100 block of Filmore Street to check out reports of a fight.
When officers arrived they found blood on the front door of unit #6, according to police spokesman Sgt. Pablo Vanegas. When they knocked on door, Vanegas said Joseph Malcarcel, 18, casually opened it.
Inside the home they found more blood and the body of a man in his 50s. Police have not released the name of the man who died. Vanegas said the man and Valcarcel were not related and did not live together.
The man’s body was turned over the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause of death.
