Labor Data: Florida Men Paid 16% More A Week Than Women

FLORIDA (CBSMiami) – Each week, Florida women are earning 16% less than Florida men, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Florida women earned $668 per week in 2011 compared to the $797 median weekly earnings by men. Nationwide, women earned $684 in median weekly wages compared to $832 by men.

The data is a comparison of overall median wages by gender and is the second-highest ratio in Florida since 1997, according to the Times.
