LONDON (CBSMiami) – It’s official. More than a year-and-a-half after their royal wedding at Westminster Abbey, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton are expecting a baby.
Palace officials made the announcement Monday.
Buckingham Palace also said Kate is currently in a central London hospital suffering from acute morning sickness, and is expected to stay for several days.
No due date has been announced, but the palace says the duchess is not yet 12 weeks pregnant.
Ever since she exchanged vows with Prince William, Kate has been the subject of persistent pregnancy rumors.
Now that its official, their royal highnesses and families are said to be “delighted” with the news.
The baby, as first-born to William who is second in line for the throne after his dad Prince Charles, could become monarch one day. Whether a boy or a girl, the child will be next in line behind William in the line of succession to the throne.
