Miami Man Killed In Red Road Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A 29-year old Miami man was killed early Sunday morning when his Chevy Cobalt was struck on Red Road in northern Miami-Dade County.

The Florida Highway Patrol said as man went to make a turn onto Red Road from NW 186th Street around 6:30 a.m. when he was hit by Yarelys Ruiz who was behind the wheel of an Infinity Q45.

The impact sent the Cobalt spinning into the right lane of Northbound Red Road.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Ruis, who was seriously injured, was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.

The FHP said neither the man nor Ruiz was wearing seatbelts.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
