FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The headaches are finally over for Fort Lauderdale drivers who travel along State Road A1A.
A four-block stretch of A1A was periodically shut down in both directions Thursday night and Friday morning, so that work crews could continue repairing the area ravaged by battering waves during recent high tides.

Workers painted new pavement markings on A1A between Northeast 14th Court and Northeast 17th Court, the Florida Department of Transportation told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The work required one or both travel lanes to be closed intermittently through about 8 a.m., agency spokeswoman Barbara Kelleher told the paper.
