Hialeah Hit and Run Sends Woman To Hospital

HIALEAH (CBS4) - Hialeah Police were investigating a hit and run crash Friday night.

A woman was struck while crossing W 24 Ave. near 50 Street, police said.

Her shoes and an umbrella could be seen in the middle of the road as investigators took measurements of long skid marks.

The victim was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, police said.

She was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident, according to witnesses.

The woman's identity has not been released, but multiple people on scene, including officers said she is 49 years old.

As of Friday night, police had not provided a vehicle description.

Neighbors told CBS 4's Lauren Pastrana West 24 Avenue was recently widened from two lanes to four, but people continue to cross the street in areas that are not designated as crosswalks.
