AVENTURA (CBS4) – Miami-Dade Police are on the scene of a deadly accident involving an elderly pedestrian and a county transit bus on a busy Aventura street.

The collision happened at the intersection of 199th Street and Northeast 29 Avenue.

Family members tell CBS4′s Brian Andrews that the victim is Barbara Rubenstein, 84. Rubenstein splits her time between her condo in Aventura and her home in Chicago.

Her family said Rubenstein was fiercely independent who had been to the movies earlier in the day and had just stopped at a nearby Publix to get groceries. She was walking with the groceries back to her home when she was hit and killed.

Miami-Dade Police have not released any details related to the crash.

Miami-Dade transit officials say no one on board the bus at the time of the crash was injured. They tell CBS4 News that the bus involved was Route #120.
