Cyclist Struck By BSO Deputy In Cooper City

COOPER CITY (CBSMiami) – A cyclist was taken to the hospital after she was accidentally struck by a Broward Sheriff's deputy.

According to the sheriff's office, it happened just after 10:30 a.m. on SW 118th Street, just west of Stirling Road. The deputy was on duty and in a marked patrol car.

The injured cyclist was transported as a trauma alert to Memorial Regional. The sheriff's office said her injuries do not appear to be life threatening. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The investigation into the crash has been turned over to the department's Traffic Homicide Unit.
