One Dead After Car, Tractor Trailer Collide In Coral Springs

CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami) – An accident involving an 18-wheeler in Coral Springs has claimed the life of a Ft. Lauderdale man.

It happened Monday morning on State Road 7 just north of Sample Road.   Hansel Norton, 64, was heading south on the road in his tractor trailer to make a delivery at a Walmart when he said he felt a bump and thought his load shifted.

When he arrived at the Walmart on Atlantic Boulevard he saw damage to the back of his trailer and realized he had hit something. When he went back to where he felt the bump, he found police on the scene of a deadly accident.

A red Lexus, which police believed hit the back of the truck, had crashed through some signs and ended up in a stand of trees next to the road. Coral Springs police think the car went under the back of the truck, because its top had been completely sliced off.  The driver of the car, 29-year old Christopher Conner, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Southbound SR 7 between Sample Road and Turtle Creek Drive was closed to traffic while police conducted their investigation.
