Car Plows Into UPS Store In Deerfield Beach

DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – Imagine the terror felt by UPS Store employees when a car came crashing through their store's front window.

According to police, a car plowed into the store at SW 10 Street near Military Trail just after 4 p.m. Friday.

"I honestly thought I was gonna get hit…I don't know how I'm standing right now," said Store Manager Gerardo Davila.

Davila said he was behind a counter that no longer exists.

"My instinct was to run and jump and try to get out of the way. I was in the line of where the car was coming and I could see it not stopping and I could see debris coming," Davila said.

"I was just trying to hop not trying to get hit with anything," he added.

He didn't get hit, and neither did the other two employees in the store.

Fortunately, no customers were inside.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said neither of the women in the car suffered serious injuries.

That's amazing, considering the car came to rest completely inside the store, as if on display in a car dealership showroom.

One of the women apologized and said she was shocked.

Although investigators will interview the driver, it's possible the driver simply mistook the gas pedal for the brake.
